ONYX is a studio, not a factory. We build software the way good work has always been made — with patience, restraint, and a quiet respect for the people who will live with it after we're gone.
A website is not a deliverable. It is a record of the decisions you made under pressure, the shortcuts you refused to take, and the standards you held when nobody was watching.
Everything below is how we choose to work. It is not a sales pitch. It is the contract we keep with ourselves — and, by extension, with anyone who hires us.

Craft Over Quantity
We take on fewer projects so each one receives the attention real work requires. A crowded studio is a rushed studio, and rushed work shows on screen, in code, and in the bill a year later when something has to be rebuilt.
Clarity Is a Feature
Plain language. Written scopes. Honest timelines. You should never need to decode what we meant, re-read a proposal three times, or ask what something costs. If we can't explain it in one paragraph, we haven't finished thinking about it yet.
Boring Technology on Purpose
We choose tools that will still be here in five years. Next.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, React Native — the unglamorous, well-documented, widely-understood backbone of the modern web. Longevity beats novelty; your product should outlast the frameworks that built it.
Restraint Is Design
The hardest part of our job is saying 'you don't need that.' We argue for the smallest version of the thing worth shipping, because every extra feature is a tax on the next person who has to maintain it. Less, done well, is more.
Ownership, Not Lock-In
You own the code, the accounts, the domain, and every credential from day one. No vendor traps, no exit fees, no leverage games. If you ever decide to move on, we'll hand over a clean, documented codebase — not a hostage situation.
Good Taste Is Non-Negotiable
Every typography choice, every animation, every line of copy either belongs or it doesn't. We don't ship work we wouldn't put our name on, and we don't pad scope with things we wouldn't use ourselves. Taste is a quiet discipline, not a style.
